What is the code used for?

Chapter 08 is the top level of the customs tariff. A chapter code is not used in declarations as such: import and export declarations need the code under the chapter that describes the goods most precisely. The chapter's headings are listed below.

Duties, VAT, import restrictions and the other measures that apply to the code are in the EU's TARIC service. The search is a guide only; Finnish Customs gives binding decisions on classification (Binding Tariff Information).
